I will be happy to forward my full itinerary at the end of the trip, since of course it’s a living document until it is over. It took many hours of research and planning for the week we are here, and covers the entire south plus the capital, Reykjavik. We did not do the north, as it is about 800-900 miles around the Ring Road, which circles the island, and would become a mad dash instead of an enjoyable tour, allowing stopping at most every important sight along the way, along with 2 full days in the city for museums, history, and fish and chips as good as Astoria’s. Another favorite Icelandic food - lamb hotdogs.
As Effie taught me, all is on a spreadsheet complete with costs and links to everywhere.
We stayed in private cottages and bungalows, 3 BR 2 BA affairs, which was far more cost effective than individual hotel rooms. e.g., Hotel in city - about $300/night/room or $900 for the 5 of us (2 couples and me); apartment - about $400 for all of us. Iceland is very expensive to go as an individual unfortunately.
This was originally set up for some friends who are also travel clients of mine, and I wasn’t planning on going until I discovered they all were too old to rent a car in Iceland. I became the designated driver.
Lot’s to see, but also rugged, barren country. 3 US National Parks in one-Geysers from Yellowstone, Glaciers from Alaska, Lava Caves and Volcanoes from Hawaii. Lots of waterfalls, too. All in all, worth putting on your bucket list.
Wow airlines has particularly cheap fares - as low as $99 each way from SFO for instance. Of course luggage is extra. You could come for a long weekend at a reasonable total cost. Check them out.
Yes, we do have vibes across the continent, Scott. There are many wonders you have yet to learn about your sphere....

Iceland and New Zealand - the two places in the world I've always wanted to visit.
I did NZ in 2000. I doubt I'll ever get to do Iceland.
I had no idea Chuck was here but oddly enough, only about two weeks ago, I was looking at places to visit over there - dreaming and wishing - before reality set in that the logistics of planning it is simply too hard for me at this stage in my life.
It must have been Chuck's vibe or Gee Dad, was it a "coincidence".

Iceland near airport. Hope there’s no earthquake before I leave, or I might be here for a few months.
