I'd heard there was going to be a play before but not any detail. What was most exciting about this to me is:
It's an "epic", i.e. a story involved enough to have to take more than one night to show.
It's being called the Eighth HP story. In my mind this gives it more...credibility as real. I say this knowing full well JKR has been involved since the beginning so it's not a comment on it not being part of her canon, but that she's giving more attention to it than just passing it off for someone else to execute.
I, like Chuck, also hope it is in print someday. As for going to London to see it - not very likely. If it came to the U.S., which I do think is likely eventually, maybe if it is in a reasonable location.
It also is giving me a push to get my story done, which I want to be canon. However, JKR keeps adding things on Pottermore that don't match what I've done. I either have to give up that idea, or change my story. But if mine is done "before" new material, then I did the best I could with what I had at the time. [😉]

Exciting! Probably means the screenplay will be available in print at some point.
Or we could just go see it....

Monday 26th Oct 2015 There’s been a lot of speculation about ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child'. There will be a lot more and that’s part of the fun. Here’s what we can tell you about the play so far...
It’s officially the eighth Harry Potter story Harry’s name in the title is the giveaway that Mr. Potter is in this play. It’s an official new story that picks up where the Deathly Hallows epilogue left off. Harry is an overworked Ministry of Magichttps://www.pottermore.com/explore-the-story/the-ministry-of-magic employee, as well as a husband and father. The play will explore how Harry wrestles with his past and how his youngest son Albus Severus deals with the heavy burden of the family legacy. Now that does sound epic. This is also the very first time an official Harry Potter story has been presented on stage.
Told in two epic parts J.K. Rowling announced on Twitterhttps://www.pottermore.com/news/cursed-child-announcement that: ‘Due to the epic nature of the story we’ve been working on, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be in two parts!’
Logistically, that means you could see Part One as a matinee and Part Two in the evening or see them on separate nights in the same week. We’ve created this handy visual guide to getting ticketshttps://www.pottermore.com/features/how-to-book-tickets-for-harry-potter-and-the-cursed-child if you need it.
We will absolutely bring you more details and further updates just don’t ask if it’s a prequel because...
It’s definitely not a prequel. Really, truly, absolutely not even a little bit a prequel
