It also would appear to be helpful when one is driving 6+ hours from Missoula to Parker at night. Bruce told me my job was to keep him awake with my babble. I had been staying quiet because I figured my droning voice would lull him to sleep. I turned the tables on him, though, and asked questions that made him talk. It worked better to keep him alert I think.
He's on the road back to Portland right now.
