Greetings and Blue Lights, STARMANET subscribers!
Today marks the 30th anniversary of the original broadcast of the first STARMAN episode, "The Return".
So if you have a chance, please do share memories, and join in reminiscing about this wonderful TV show! Did anyone who is subscribed to this list see the first episode on TV when it was broadcast 30 years ago? My first episode of STARMAN was "Fathers and Sons", back in 1988 when it was aired on the American Forces Network (AFN) TV station in Germany, which I came across by chance, and I have been "hooked" ever since!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, STARMAN!

Hi all,
Yes, I had seen the movie with Jeff Bridges (the same summer as Mozart came out) and made sure to catch the first episode of the TV show, and every episode of the season. I was enthralled with it, from the music and the delightful comedy of the credits, to the kind and gentle persona of the Starman clashing against Scott's rebellious lost-boy heartbreak. But art was a little too close to life for the episode "The Gift" (where Paul Forrester's mother dies) as that was the week my dad went into the hospital and passed away. My mom had passed the previous year, so it was bittersweet.
The only episode I didn't really get was "Dusty", the one in Las Vegas--and I never understood why Starman was wearing a white jacket in that one, except to signal that it was an alternate-reality episode...
I met Vicki at a science fiction convention in the San Jose area in 1987, and have been part of the fan group since then. I have made a few of the gatherings (the one in southern California with ALL the cast together was the very best, but all the ones I have been able to attend have been delightful) and I've regretted not being able to make all of them.
Wishing everybody bright Blue Lights!

I saw the first episode, and was hooked from that point on. Luckily I taped all but one of the episodes. I missed Father's and Son's the first time around- I had no idea that they wouldn't renew the show and that we wouldn't have years and years to watch it- I'm so happy I had those tapes. My daughter was only 2 at the time it first aired but by the time she was 8-9 years old we had watched them so many times we could both repeat the dialog. Once we were at my Mother-In-Law's house and she said- "Mommy has a boyfriend" My MIL's eyebrows went up as she looked at me. Then my daughter said "Robert Hays"..lol A few years ago for my birthday my friends purchased the series on DVD for me and it is one of my prized possessions. It's as relevant today as it was 30 years ago.
