I spoke to Vicki briefly shortly after 10 PM ET/7 PM PT, reaching her on her home phone. She was on another call, so we talked less than 2 minutes, but they are home, they and the house are fine, and Liz is fine.

This just in from Liz Turner:
I just wanted to let everyone know that I am home safe and sound to my little house. I dropped Vicki, Tom and Bird home this morning then came to my house. brought in what I evacuated with along with a burger I picked up. I ate my lunch, reclined to watch a little news on the TV and decompress from all the stress of the last few days and fell asleep. The one fire perimeter map I looked at showed that both my house and Vicki's house was very close to the burn. I would guess less than 1/4 mile for either of us. Too close for comfort. I thank God, all the gallant firefighters and all of your prayers at keeping our homes safe.

Vicki Werkley communicated with a mutual friend, who sent me the following info:
Vicki and Liz Turner (with Vicki's husband Tom and their bird) got a motel room in Kelseyville after 3 evacuations. Downtown Lower Lake is not in good shape. The fire started about a quarter mile north of Vicki and as far as is known, her place is safe. On Sunday, the fire was moving toward Liz's (she is on Cache Creek above the high school).
A neighbor reported that it looked as if Vicki's place was safe as of August 14 afternoon. The fire had gone off toward the north east where it would run into the area that burned last year.
I don't have any further information yet about Liz's place. We can all hope her optimistic report to Bruce proves true.
According to a news site, a man has been arrested and charged with arson in setting this fire as well as others over the last year...
I'll let you know any updates I receive.
