An online convocation allows people in many locations to participate who could not travel even in normal times, and can be a special event. My extended family just had a Zoom birthday party for my 4 year old granddaughter, with people in California, Oregon, Washington, and Germany participating, who would not all be able to come together to a kid’s birthday party even in normal times. It was a fun event, billed as BYOC, bring your own cupcake. We ate cupcakes, sang happy birthday, and all the young cousins danced to kid music videos. Starman said that humans are endlessly created. So be creative in creating a special online convocation, which could have videos, discussion sessions, and other activities. The Zoom meetings can be recorded to be watched later on YouTube by those in other time zones or with conflicting responsibilities. Zoom is free and easy to download from Zoom.us for computers and cellphones.

yes, that is also the way I found out yesterday about Vicki.
I have been sticking to the old fashioned (ha!) way of e mail. Now I am also on the spotlight starman facebook.
I like to know what's going on even though I am in Canada and have not been to the last few gatherings
Cheers

Thank you to all the people who keep Spotlight Starman alive & well - whichever way we get the info! I am on both this list & FB; but I never really thought of here as a place to regularly chat. I just thought it was kind of an announcement platform for the events, etc. I was so busy, I never really thought to post on FB; but I really miss having talks with others about my favorite show. I keep trying to get my friends to watch it; but they are always so busy too. :(
Anyways, either format I would love to start some convos going. :D

It’s fairly quiet on the Facebook group as well. A little more activity than here lately. But no one person is responsible for either group. I set up the Facebook group over 10 years ago, but it is not official. People post news or pictures they find interesting or related to Starman somehow.
There are about a hundred or so people on this list. Discussions are dynamic. If you start one people will participate. All are welcome to post thoughts, memories etc here.
There is a discussion on facebook regarding a virtual convention. But really it’s just going to amount to a few zoom meetings in October. Perhaps a couple of other events I’d like to have a panel discussion about the fandom at 30+ years and we could really discuss anything. But like anything it requires participation. It will also require special software on your computer or smartphone/tablet to participate. Unfortunately people in Europe/Australia will be in odd time zones for watching.
Once everything is ironed out I’ll post something here as well as the Facebook group.
If anyone has any questions or would like to help. Post here.
